      <image:title>Home - What is Direct Primary Care?</image:title>
<image:caption>Direct Primary Care (DPC) is the way primary care should be. It allows the patient to have a direct relationship with their physician without third-party payers controlling what should be a decision between the doctor and the patient. Family medicine doctors who move away from the current health care model to DPC wish to emphasize that the doctor-patient relationship is at the heart of medicine. Doctors have taken an oath to provide the best care for their patients and many of us feel that DPC is the best pathway to honor this oath.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - Meet Dr. Eric Gerchman</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Gerchman is a second-generation Family Physician who has practiced in the communities of Western Maine for over 20 years. Over the course of more than two decades, he has grown to love the community and the people who live here. In recent years, Dr. Gerchman has found that the current health care model prevents and, worse, does not even prioritize meaningful relationships with patients. The current model undermines the kind of doctor-patient relationship he learned from his father’s practice and implemented into his own approach to medicine upon moving to Maine. It was this loss that inspired him to take the leap into Direct Primary Care. Living Well Family Medicine and Dr. Gerchman’s mission is to build a direct relationship with patients who are looking to partner with their doctor to receive the best care possible. He looks forward to reconnecting with his current and past patients and creating new partnerships in his new practice.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Living Well Family Medicine logo captures the core principles of our practice. The two “post” symbols combine to create the foundation of our practice. The post on the left symbolizes the practice of medicine, and the right post depicts a symbol of faith. Together, these foundations hold up the “living well”, symbolized by the plant springing up from the water in the well. Our practice believes in building honest, meaningful relationships with our patients and caring for them using evidence-based medicine balanced with understanding the needs of the patient. This comprehensive approach to medicine promotes a healthy lifestyle that encourages patients to “live well” throughout their lives.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am so excited to join my husband in helping provide the best care possible for our patients at Living Well Family Medicine. My name is Denyell Gerchman and have been blessed to be married to Dr. Gerchman for 31 years. I graduated from Temple University School of Pharmacy in 1991 and have been a practicing pharmacist every year since; working in many different positions throughout my career. Eric and I have a shared passion for spending time and connecting with our patients. My first pharmacist position after moving to Maine, was a retail pharmacist with Dave Diller at Bridgton Pharmacy. A hospital pharmacist position opened up at Bridgton Hospital and I decided to return back to hospital work. I worked for Bridgton Hospital for about 10 years before I stepped into the Pharmacy Director role there and continued that for approximately 5 years. I missed my role in taking care of patients. I missed the conversations with patients, educating them on their medications and being a part of their care. I decided to leave Bridgton Hospital and accept a staff pharmacist position at Stephens Memorial Hospital. I currently care for acutely ill patients requiring hospitalization, care for patients requiring infusions as an outpatient and have taken on the lead Oncology Pharmacist role. My love of pharmacy is fed by patient interaction, medication questions, researching new cures whether it be natural or medicinal and educating patients. I thoroughly look forward to the opportunity to work with the patients of Living Well Family Medicine.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My nursing career started in 1980 in a local nursing home where I was a nursing assistant. It was obvious to me that God wanted me to be a nurse. I loved it from the beginning. Since graduating nursing school in 1985 I have been fortunate to experience nursing in all departments in the hospital setting, ambulatory surgery, emergency room and outpatient radiation oncology. I enjoy getting to really know the patients I am working with. That way I can better understand where they come from and learn how to teach in common terms and develop realistic goals. Dr Gerchman and I worked together in Norway and soon realized we both were frustrated with how the system separated us from the patients. I am very happy to be working with him. I am planning to take a course beginning in January to become a certified primary care nurse. I am hoping this will help me be more useful to all of you. My home life revolves around my family. My husband and I have 2 dogs and a cat at home. I enjoy gardening, hiking, snowshoeing. sewing , crochet and playing the piano. My two grown boys live in southern Maine. I am blessed with two grandchildren and another on the way! I hope to get to know all of you well enough to help facilitate getting whatever medical care you need.</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Danielle Allen - Meet Danielle Allen, Medical Assistant:</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi Everyone! My name is Danielle Allen. Let me explain a little about my life in a nut shell… My interest in the medical field started during my senior year of high school. I had the opportunity to be part of an internship which allowed me to see the ins and outs of healthcare. This experience motivated me to pursue further education with a goal of being able to care for others. I started my higher education at Eastern Maine Community College in general studies. After completing my general studies, I moved back home and began school at Central Maine Community College in a program to become a Medical Assistant. In the winter of 2016 I graduated from school with an associate’s degree in Medical Assisting. I then began my career at Bridgton Family Practice in Bridgton, Maine. Later I moved on to work at Western Maine Family Practice in Norway. This is where I first met and worked with Dr. Gerchman. Working in family medicine I have enjoyed caring for patients of all ages, from newborns on. Over the last several years I have grown within my role as a medical assistant. I have really enjoyed getting to know people and their families on a personal level and helping with their medical needs. I was born and raised in Western Maine. I am the oldest of three siblings. I graduated from Oxford Hills High School. During high school I was very active in sports year round, was an avid social butterfly, and a committed student. My life now is filled with joy due to my four legged fur babies Ella (lab/pit mix) and Carter (lab/plot hound mix) and my high school sweetheart/Fiancé, Troy. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, boating during the warm summer days, and skiing and snowmobiling during Maine’s winter season. I live life to the fullest! The opportunity to work with Dr. Gerchman and all of his patients at Living Well Family Medicine warms my heart! I am honored and excited for this new adventure and I can’t wait to get to know you all!</image:caption>
